How do betting odds work?
King Exchange shows decimal odds. Multiply your stake by the odds to get your total return, with your stake included. A ₹100 bet at 2.50 returns ₹250 if it wins: ₹150 profit plus your ₹100 back. Divide 1 by the odds to see the chance the price implies.
| Odds | ₹100 returns | Profit | Implied chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.50 | ₹150 | ₹50 | 66.7% |
| 2.00 | ₹200 | ₹100 | 50% |
| 2.50 | ₹250 | ₹150 | 40% |
| 4.00 | ₹400 | ₹300 | 25% |
Lower odds mean the market thinks the outcome is more likely, so it pays less. Higher odds pay more because the outcome is less likely.
What is backing and laying?
Backing means betting that something will happen, such as a team winning. Laying means betting that it won't. When you lay, you take the bookmaker's side: you keep the other player's stake if the outcome fails, and you pay out their winnings if it happens.
Example
You lay a team at 2.50 for ₹100. If the team doesn't win, you keep the ₹100.
If the team wins, you pay ₹150, which is the ₹100 stake multiplied by (2.50 − 1). That ₹150 is your liability.
Check your liability before you lay at high odds. It grows quickly: laying ₹100 at 6.00 puts ₹500 at risk.
How do I place a cricket bet?

- 2Open cricket and pick the match.

- 4Tap the price, enter your stake and check the return shown.
- 5Confirm the bet. It appears in your open bets until the market settles.
How does session betting work?
A session market is a bet on how many runs the batting team will have at the end of a set over. You pick Yes if you think they'll reach the line, or No if you think they'll fall short. Extras such as wides and no-balls count towards the total.
Example
The 6-over session shows No 52 and Yes 53.
Bet Yes and you win if the team has 53 or more after six overs. Bet No and you win if it has fewer than 52.
If the team is bowled out or reaches its target before that over, the session settles on its final total. If the over is never bowled, the session is void unless the result was already decided. Super over runs don't count.
What are fancy and toss markets?
Fancy markets are bets on events inside a match, such as a player's runs or how many wickets fall. The toss market is a bet on which captain wins the coin toss. It settles on the official toss result, and every toss bet is void if no toss takes place.
The toss is close to a 50/50 call, and no form guide or statistic improves your chances. Treat it as a bit of fun with a small stake.
How does live betting work?
Live betting, also called in-play betting, lets you bet while the match is being played. Prices move after every ball, wicket and boundary, so the odds you see can change before you confirm. Settlement works the same way as for bets placed before the match.
Live markets move fast, which makes it easy to bet more than you planned. Decide your total stake for the match before it starts, and don't add more to win back a losing bet.
How do bookmakers make money?
Bookmakers set prices so the implied chances of all outcomes add up to more than 100%. The extra is their margin. It means that over many bets, the average bettor gets back less than they put in, whatever the result of any single match.
Example
A fair coin toss would be priced at 2.00 for each team. Suppose both are priced at 1.95 instead.
Each price implies a 51.3% chance (1 ÷ 1.95), so together they add up to 102.6%. The extra 2.6% is the margin.
On an exchange, other players set the back and lay prices. The gap between the best back and lay price works in a similar way.
How do I set a betting budget?
Choose an amount for the month that you could lose without it affecting your bills or savings, and treat it as spent. Keep each stake small compared with that amount. If you want a hard cap, the team can set a daily, weekly or monthly deposit limit on your ID.
- Set the limit before a bad run, while it's easy to decide.
- Never chase losses with a bigger bet.
- Take a break, or ask the team about self-exclusion, if betting stops being fun.
